Spirulina and Chlorella Health Benefits

Spirulina, vegetarian foodLast 20 years, people concern that Spirulina algae was the health food. As the same time, there is new algae named Chlorella and someone belief that it’s better than Spirulina.

Spirulina Algae

Spirulina or Blue-Green Algae is family species of micro algae. From the result of research, it was specified that Spirulina algae has nutrition for health and high Chlorophyll that can detoxify your inside body and can help you quickly heal up.

So, Spirulina have many minerals important of health such as Iron, Calcium, Zinc, Potassium, Magnesium and Vitamins (A and B complex). The special of Spirulina is Phenylalanine amino acid that can help you control obesity or weight. That’s why group of people who want to slim will eat Spirulina.

The special algae is Chlorella or Emerald Algae has high nutrition same as Spirulina but it more special than Spirulina because Chlorella has group of vitamin B, C and E.

Chlorella can help you have a good excretory system and get rid of toxin in your body. For woman it will decrease violence of fungus; fungus is the cause of Candida Albicans.

Spirulina is the best health food for vegetarian but be careful to select from the quality farm with the good control system.

Tom Kha Hed (Mushroom in Coconut soup recipe)

Tom Kha Hed, Thai foodMushroom Coconut soup recipe in Thai called “Tom Kha Hed”; it is spicy with bird chili, hot with coconut soup and sour lemon flavored. For vegetarian we will use mushroom instead meat.

Ingredients:

1 cup rice straw mushrooms
1 cup angel mushrooms
2 cups cabbage
1 tomato
3 lemongrass stems cut into 1 cm. parts
1/2 cup of galangal slices
4 kaffir lime leaves
1 tbsp. sugar
1 tbsp. salt
3 tbsp. lime juice
2 tbsp. light soy sauce
1 bush chopped coriander
3 bird chilies
6 cups of coconut milk

Preparation:

- Clean and wash the mushrooms and cut in half.
- Wash cabbage and tomato and cut into bite sized chunks.
- Put the coconut milk in a pot over medium heat and bring to a boil, while stirring constantly.
- Add the galangal, lemongrass, torn kaffir leaves and continue boil for a minute.
- Add cabbage, mushrooms and tomato then put salt, sugar and the chili for seasoning. The taste can adjust as you want.
- Carry down the stove, ladle it to bowl and sprinkle with kaffir lime leaves and bird chili.
- Serve with warm Thai jasmine rice.

Vegetarian Thai Green Curry

Vegetarian_Thai_Green_CurryThis is a simple and so good Thai foods, it is a popular menu at Thai restaurant. Vegetarian Thai green curry serve with Thai jasmine rice or Thai rice noodle. Sometime you can buy green curry paste from Thai shop or Internet. I hope you will enjoy cooking this menu.

Ingredients

2 tablespoons green curry paste
300 grams vegetarian shrimp (made of bean)
2 cup firm tofu (bean curd), cut into 1/2 in squares
3 cups coconut milk
5 pea eggplants
3 eggplants
6 basils
1 red chili
6 kaffir lime leaf
1 tablespoon palm sugar
2 teaspoons sweet soy sauce
1/2 cup boiled bamboo shoots
1 medium carrot, cut diagonally
1/2 cup boiled pumpkin

Method

- Soak tofu in sweet soy sauce for 20 minutes, drain.
- Heat 1 tablespoon vegetable oil in a medium saucepan, fry green curries paste for 1 minute.
- Add 1/4 cup of coconut milk, season with sweet soy sauce and palm sugar.
- Add tofu and all the vegetables except the pea eggplants and eggplants until coconut float up during boiling.
- Add remaining coconut milk, bring to boil, reduce heat and simmer until vegetables are nearly tender or change color.
- Add pea eggplant and eggplants. Wait for 5 to 10 minutes.
- Sprinkle with kaffir lime leaf and red chili for serve.

Fruit Salad Thai’s Style (Som Tam)

Tam Som or Som Tam is popular Thai foods for every place in Thailand. Normally, Thai peoples like to eat Som Tam with sticky rice and grilled chicken. But vegetarianism can not eat because of its ingredients are a green papaya, chili garlic, and lime juice, field crabs preserved and fish sauce or a condiment of fermented fish. So I will introduce “Tam Phon La Mai” (Fruit salad Thai’s style).It is simple foods and vegetarian can eat it. Som Tam’s taste is sour and spicy and use sliced green papaya. But Fruit Salad’s taste is sweet and use many kinds of fruit instead papaya.

Ingredients:

- Mix these fruits; apple, mango, star apple, guava, grape, watermelon, rose apple or your favorite fruit for a half of cup.
- 1 handful of sliced carrot
- 3 dried chilies
- 3 tbsp. roasted peanuts
- 1 Cherry tomatoes
- 3 tbsp. lime juice
- 1 tbsp. sugar
- 1 tbsp. soy sauce
- Half of tsp. salt

Preparation:

- Peel the carrot and sliced it.
- Slice the tomatoes and fruits as shape of checkered.

Cooking:

1. Put chilies and sugar in mortar. After that put salt, soy sauce and lime juice, you can season it as you’re tasty.
2. Mix all fruits and sliced carrot with sauce in No.1. Then put on a dish and decorated it with roasted peanuts.
